Upcoming Event: Coastal Map Revision Project Presentation at Gulf of Mexico Alliance 2019 All Hands Meeting

From June 10–13, 2019, the Gulf of Mexico Alliance will hold the 2019 All Hands Meeting in Gulf Shores, Alabama. This four-day event will bring together local leaders to share information and best practices in the fields of coastal resilience, community engagement, mapping, water resources, and more. At this event, Kristyn Gunter from SMPDD will present on the Coastal Map Revision Project, describe the study process, and discuss how the updated mapping will help coastal communities proactively mitigate their risk while also encouraging economic growth along Mississippi’s coast.

SMPDD presents on Coastal Map Revision Project at State of Our Coast

On May 6, 2019, Kristyn Gunter presented on the Mississippi Coastal Map Revision Project at the 2019 State of Our Coast event in Biloxi. The theme of the event was Power of Partnerships, and this meeting brought together state, federal and local government officials, along with academia, non-profit organizations, and businesses to network, collaborate, and leverage opportunities to address issues of local concern. Kristyn’s presentation provided an overview of the Coastal Map Revision Project, discussed how the updated mapping will benefit local communities, and described ways to stay engaged throughout the study process. Please join us at the Gulf Coast Community Design Studio’s “Friday Morning Serial” event to learn about the coastal flood analysis and mapping project underway in Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson Counties. We will discuss the study process and how the updated mapping will help coastal communities proactively mitigate their risk while also encouraging economic growth along Mississippi’s coast.
